UPDATE 5/8/13
To All Arizona Members
The following is an explanation of the procedures for this weekend’s State Greco tournament at Basha High School. We will offer Freestyle as well as Greco at this weekend’s tournament for those who wrestle in the Greco Tournament.
The following Age groups will only wrestle Freestyle: Rookies and Bantams. They will be placed in the small gym and will be bracketed by the Madison style into a 4-man pool.
The following groups (Intermediates, Novice, and Schoolboys) will wrestle Greco first then have the option to also wrestle Freestyle once the Greco tournament is completed or as soon as their weight classes are able. The Greco tournament will be traditional brackets with the assigned weight classes based on USA Wrestling. As for the Freestyle portion it will be Madison Bracketing with 4-man pools. The cost will be $15 for Greco and $20 for both styles.
As for Cadets and Juniors, we will offer Greco to those age groups.
Weigh-ins for this tournament only will be as follows:
8-8:30 - Rookies, Bantams, Intermediates, Novice, and Schoolboys. Wrestling to start as soon as possible once weigh-ins close.
11:00-11:30 - Cadets, Juniors, and Open. Wrestling to start as soon as possible once the morning session has concluded.
We will return to our three staggered times for State Freestyle at Highland H.S. on May 18th and will be using Traditional brackets for the State Tournament.
If you have any questions feel free to email me with any Questions at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Thank You
Just a reminder, at all tournaments other than State tournaments and qualifier tournaments there are no set weight classes. Wrestlers will be pooled together in order to be able to create more matches for their pool. Please do not “cut weight” to make a specific weight classes for the regular weekend tournaments.
