Western Junior Regional & Veteran's Nationals
The Western Junior & *Cadet Regional Championships and Veterans Nationals will be held in Tucson, Ariz., from May 3-5, 2012.
USA Wrestling does not charge for changing weight classes, even at weigh-ins. Registration will be capped at 300 Junior wrestlers per style, 300 cadet wrestlers per style, and 200 veterans per style. Sign up today to guarantee your spot!
USA Wrestling’s regional events are contested in freestyle and Greco-Roman, the only two styles of wrestling at the Olympic level. Freestyle wrestling is exciting, creative, and dynamic because points can be scored from almost anywhere. The most recent Olympic wrestling gold medal was won by freestyle wrestler Henry Cejudo in 2008. Other notable freestyle wrestlers include Cael Sanderson (Olympic gold medalist and four-time undefeated NCAA champion), Jake Herbert (World silver medalist and two-time NCAA Champion), and Tervel Dlagnev (World bronze medalist and two-time Division II NCAA Champion). Greco-Roman wrestling is known for powerful lifts and big throws, as all attacks must be made above the waist. Current National Greco-Roman Head Coach Steve Fraser was a gold medalist in 1984, and Rulon Gardner won gold in 2000.
The top three (3) place winners in each Junior weight class qualifies for their state's National Team above the state limit. USA Wrestling's ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships are July 13-21, 2012. Please contact your USA Wrestling state director for more information. To find your state director, please visit www.az-usaw.org/board
This event will also feature the Veterans Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals

2012 National Dual Team Qualifier
March 3 @ Desert Vista High School
For many wrestlers in AZ, their season is just getting started. With the completion of the AZ High School State Championships, a new chapter opens for many top wrestlers. This years qualifier will help field a core group of Schoolboy, Cadets and Juniors freestyle wrestlers who will compete in their respective National Dual Championships.
Scoolboys will compete in Indianapolis, IN June 6.
Cadets will compete in Daytona Beach, FL June 13.
Juniors will compete in Oklahoma City, OK June 26.
Schoolboys will compete in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle classes.
Cadets and Juniors will only compete in the Freestyle class.
These tounamnets are perfect primers for the ASICS Kids National Championships, in Orem, UT and the grand ASICS Cadet/Junior National Championships in Fargo, ND.
These Dual Championships provide wrestler with 7-9 elite match-ups. The tounament is done in a dual team format, with four round robin groups. Teams wrestle 4-5 times a day and cannot be eliminated. An invaluable experience to become a national calibur athlete.
2012 AZ National Dual Team Camp

Good Luck!
2011 Schoolboy National Duals NEWS
Greco rounds are complete for team AZ.
Blake Monty earns honorable spot on the Schoolboy All-American Greco Team. Blake was 7-0 in Greco and 6-1 in Freestyle. AZ went 2- 5. But, in 3 of the losses AZ actually outscored thier opponents in technical mat points: 70-32(AZ-IN),53-43(AZ-KS),and cons.round 62-51(AZ-MN)
Biggest reason for loss- not having a full line-up. Two more Dual Meet wins would have placed AZ in the top 16 with a chance to win 9th place.
